In the scope of comic book TV trailers, the first trailer for the upcoming Lanterns on HBO Max that dropped this week was pretty god damn incredible.
But even compared to other TV trailers, it was also was pretty god damn incredible, too.
A little background: the show is in the DC Universe and focuses on the Green Lantern mythology. I have 0.0% percent attachment to the Green Lantern character other than seeing the Ryan Reynolds movie and having a general understanding of what it’s all about.
I had honestly forgotten this show was in development. Then, HBO Max teased a trailer was coming this week and then apparently dropped it within an hour or so afterward.
And brother, what a trailer it is. I saw a comment that it’s like True Detective and I can see that. Kyle Chandler is always pretty good as is Aaron Pierre (The Morning Show, Rebel Ridge) who looks like a superhero.
I can’t wait. Lanterns lands at some point in August.
