I had honestly forgot all about the fact there was a Jack Ryan movie being made, but lo and behold, we have a date and its first trailer that dropped Tuesday.
(You might have missed it given Brand New Day mania that swept the world Wednesday. You’re forgiven.)
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, Amazon Prime Video launched a Jack Ryan TV show in 2018 that ran for four seasons and wrapped up in 2023 after a 30-episode run. Starring John Krasinski of The Office and A Quiet Place fame (did I really need to explain who he is?), it’s a reboot/descendant of the Jack Ryan character from the Tom Clancy novels and many a well-known movie you haven’t watched in a long time.
In October 2024, the movie production was announced, thus confirming Krasinski got a nice bag o’cash to do it. Wendell Pierce (you know him from The Wire), America’s top legitimately bald actor in Michael Kelly, and new addition Sienna Miller.
If you watched the show, you know what to expect: straight action, homie. They know their audience and aren’t swaying from what brought us all to the dance.
So now, we are about to have Jack Ryan: Ghost War, set to debut on Prime Video on Wednesday, May 20 and not in theaters even though it would be awesome if it was, even for a few weeks.
