Hi, I’m Josh. I wrote this.
To quote Dr. Evil (and yes, I’m going back to 1997 for that reference, thank you), it’s frickin’ freezing here in New England in February (and December, January and parts of March as well).
After a January that saw the high profile returns of Hijack, Bridgerton, and Shrinking in addition to His & Hers and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms that were on my HOT LIST, February brings us a considerably lighter schedule…giving me time to catch up on that busy January.
Plus, the New England Patriots have a Super Bowl to win. Again. That’s easily my top show I’m looking forward to, but here’s the rest with some honorable mentions.
The Last Thing He Told Me
Season 2 | Apple TV | February 20 | Eight episodes
My wife and I gave the first season a shot when it came out in April 2023. Not sure why it took 2.5 years for a second season that isn’t special effects heavy, but here we are.
But maybe I’m not looking forward to it as much as I thought. When I first saw this, I logged the note “Fine, not sure if we’ll watch 2nd” and gave it a B-. And here I am, 2.5 years later, putting this in a post saying I am looking forward to watching it. To check myself, Metacritic has s1 at a 49 which isn’t great and Rotten Tomatoes is a bit worse.
Perhaps that’s a benefit of such a long time between seasons: you forget why you didn’t like it to begin with.
What a sales pitch!
Paradise
Season 2 | Hulu | February 23 | Eight episodes
Here’s what I wrote about the first season in my top 10 from 2025 list:
“Speaking of mystery box/theory shows, this one completely snuck up on me where I only started watching it after two or three friends recommended it and demanded I watch it. Never one to disappoint my public, I’m glad they did and I’m very excited for the second go-round to start in February.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself…which I did. We’ll see how they pull off their sophomore season.
Bridgerton
Season 4, pt. 2 | Netflix | February 26 | Eight total episodes over two parts
Again, I’ll defer to a previous post and what I wrote for January’s first drop:
“On the surface, one would not expect me to be either a fan of this show or the targeted audience. However, my wife wanted to try this years ago so I joined her. While it’s not my favorite, it’s the only soapy show like this that I watch. Well, that was until The Hunting Wives, but that’s a story for a different post.”
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters
Season 2 | Apple TV | February 27 | Ten episodes
I gave the first season a C+ and part of the reason was it featured way too many humans and not enough in the way of monsters which a show that includes “Legacy of Monsters” should have. It also lacked a bit of mystery which I was hoping for.
I have watched Godzilla movies since I was a kid so I’ll always give tie-ins a chance (even though Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was quite bad). It was November 2023 when the first season came out so, like The Last Thing He Told Me, there’s been a lot of time to forget what I didn’t like.
Man, two shows I’m iffy on that last came out in 2023 and star someone with the letter G (Garner, Godzilla). What a connection I made, huh?
Honorable Mentions:
- The Legend of the American Basketball Association (Amazon Prime)
Well, I guess that’s a bit lighter than I thought.
